Sediment Analysis

Sediment Analysis

Sediments in aquatic ecosystems make up, on the one hand, the habitats of benthic organisms, and on the other hand, act as sources and reservoirs of nutrients  and other substances. They are therefore a critical element within these ecosystems and must be evaluated. A series of rules and recommendations (ROM 5.1, CEDEX) state the need to chemically, bacteriologically and toxicologically characterize these sediments.

The staff at IHLab Bio have ample experience, having participated in the characerization marine sediments for an array of public and private institutions, both in Spain and abroad. The Laboratory also has specific techniques and instrumentation to be used in field monitoring campaigns (dredges, corers, electrometric probes, etc.) and characterization (granulometric analysis, ecotoxicity, digestion microwave, TOC, microbiology labs, etc.).
