Tasks
MARCE project will be developed in a series of consecutive steps and it could be conceptually divided in two different parts. The first part of the project will consist in the development of a River Network in which modelled hydrological, geomorphological, water characteristics and biological data will be integrated. Given this spatial framework a number of hypothesis regarding biophysical interactions will be tested. Finally, a Spatial Decision Support System will be developed integrating the model results with GIS. In the second part of the project the ecological consequences of river restoration and engineering works will be investigated by selecting key cases. In the end, the development of a user-friendly tool will be explored through the integration of probability network modelling with the river network created in the first part.
During the development of the project we will actively participate with 4 different water agencies in Spain, thus, we expect to travel frequently for project coordination meetings and to keep water managers informed of the project advances. We have estimated a number of 8 national trips all throughout the project. Next, we will detail the different tasks we will follow to achieve the MARCE project main objectives.
- Task 1. River Network Developmen
- Task 2. Database development and site selection
- Task 3. Geomorphological characterisation
- Task 4. Data modelling
- Task 5. Development of the Spatial Decision Support System
- Task 6. River restoration and engineering outcomes
