IH Cantabria's new installations will be in the Parque Científico y Tecnológico de Cantabria (PCTCAN - Cantabria Scientific and Technological Park), which is currently under construction. The Technological Park has been conceived as a way of providing a high-quality scientific and technological environment for some of the most competitive research centres and companies in the region of Cantabria.
The PCTCAN has assigned sufficient land to cover IH Cantabria's needs for office space and laboratories and for Cantabria's Great Maritime Engineering Tank (GTIMC in Spanish), guaranteeing a perfect level of synergy between both centres.
The PCTCAN, by providing a number of buildings designed to house companies, has also considered the possibility of incorporating new companies that may be established as spin-offs in the maritime engineering or environmental hydraulics fields, establishing the basis for IH Cantabria and the GTIMC to become the most important research, development and innovation centre in Spain and among the most important in the world.
